Ghee its Popcorn

Print Recipe
Serves: 6 cups Cooking Time: 10 min

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1/4 cup organic sprouted popcorn kernels

Instructions

1

Heat the Ghee in a non stick pan on high

2

Add the popcorn kernels and stir to coat evenly in Ghee

3

Cover and reduce to medium heat

4

After 3 minutes carefully lift lid and give it another stir

5

When you hear the first kernel pop, with the lid still on ( use an oven mit to hold it down and secure), lift the pan off the heat

6

Continue the popping by removing the pan every minute and shaking without removing lid ( this ensures it wont burn)

7

When kernels slow down, shut heat, shake and let rest slightly uncovered for a minute ( no one wants to dodge flying kernels, unless thats your thing then by all means...)

8

Toss with spice mix or just a dash of salt

Ah, so cheesy of a title. I had to do it, I apologize in advance. One of my favorite snacks has got to be fresh popcorn. Popcorn is full of fiber to help you going, not to mention its great to snack on when writing blog posts… but I digress. The great thing about popcorn is that you can virtually turn it into anything you want. With my affinity towards hot and spicy, I like mine doused with hot sauce or a custom spice blend of chili pepper, smoked paprika and a dash of sea salt. Once you have made the basic recipe above, here are some variations to add to your popcorn that will satisfy any desire!

Peanut Thai Pops: Mix popcorn with zest from 1 lime, 1 tbsp peanut butter powder, 1/8 cayenne pepper

Greek Island Pops: Mix popcorn with zest from 1 lemon, 1 tbsp oregano, 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil, freshly ground pepper

Pumpkin Pie Pops: Mix popcorn with 1 tbsp orange zest, 1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice, drizzle with honey

Chocolate and Almond Pops: Mix popcorn with 1 tbsp raw cacao powder, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 cup toasted almond slivers
